School Nursing Team
The School Nursing Team are available to support children, parents and carers with a variety of health related matters;
- Health protection and promotion – providing information on how you can protect your health and stay well;
- Guidance on managing medical conditions in school – allowing every child to access every area of the curriculum;
- Emotional Health and Well being – Providing education and support with social and emotional health and wellbeing.
Vision, Hearing and Dental Care
There is no routine testing of children’s hearing in Reception. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s hearing at any time, please contact the school nurse, class teacher or your GP for further guidance or assessment. All children under the age of 16 are eligible for free dental care and vision checks. Please ensure that your child has an annual check-up at the dentist and opticians.

Axe Valley Children’s Centre
Action for Children’s Devon Children’s centres provide Early Help, to the whole family from pregnancy through to aged eight, when families most need support using the “team around the family” approach.
In East Devon, we have Children’s Centres in Axe Valley, Exmouth, Honiton, Ottery St Mary and Sidmouth.
Early Help means taking action to support a child, young person or their family early in the life of a problem, as soon as it emerges. It can be required at any stage in a child’s life from pre-birth to adulthood, and applies to any problem or need that a family needs support to resolve. It also applies to all children and young people, with any form of need.
