All Saints CE Primary School is a Church of England School located in the Diocese of Exeter. We cater for boys and girls from 4 -11 years of age and are part of St. Christopher’s Multi Academy Trust (MAT).
St. Christopher’s Multi Academy Trust (MAT) is the admissions authority for its member schools. This means the MAT is responsible for determining the admissions policies for both of our schools; they also support us in taking decisions on applications. Historically, our schools were their own admissions authority as they were previously Voluntary Aided (VA) schools and we continue to bring this past experience with us when taking decisions on applications. St Christopher’s MAT encourage our local governing body to play an active part in the admissions process and they continue to do this with their wealth of knowledge and expertise.
We have a one term entry system so that children start school full time at the beginning of the Autumn term as rising fives. They are given the opportunity to attend several sessions before their date of entry to ease the transition into full time schooling. The reception teacher makes a home visit prior to them starting full time (subject to Covid-19 restrictions).
PROPOSED VARIANCE TO THE SCHOOL ADMISSIONS POLICY 2021/2022
The Board of Directors of St Christopher’s Multi Academy Trust is seeking a variation to the School Admissions Policy for 2021/2022. During the Covid19 pandemic, churches and other religious buildings have been closed by law for public worship and for other uses. Since the oversubscription criteria for the schools include church attendance (at a specified frequency and period of time) parents and their children, who are seeking admission priority on the faith criteria, are unable to meet this criterion under the terms of our current admissions arrangements.
Therefore, a variation has been requested for the following to be added to the 2021 arrangements for Reception Pupils:
In the event that during the period specified for attendance at worship the church has been closed for public worship and has not provided alternative premises for that worship, the requirements of these (admission) arrangements in relation to attendance will only apply to the period when the church or alternative premises have been available for public worship.
The request for variation will be made to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator on our behalf by the Diocese of Exeter.

The Admissions Process
All Parents who wish to express a preference for a place at All Saints CE Primary School must do so using the Local Authority Common Application Form (CAF). This is available online at www.devon.gov.uk/admissions or within the First Step primary admissions booklet – copies of which are available by calling My Devon call centre on 0845 155 1019.
All applications must be made to the Devon Local Authority by the closing date; 15th January of that year. In addition, if you are applying for a place on religious grounds and believe that you fall into criterion 4 (see below), you are also asked to complete a ‘Supplementary Information Form’. These forms are available directly from the school and should be completed and returned to the school by no later than 15th January of that year.
The local authority coordinates admissions for all primary schools and we will either write to you or email you to advise of the school place you have been allocated for your child.
We are a one form entry school with a planned admission number (PAN) of 20.

Allocation of places
Places are allocated according to the following criteria which are, in priority order:
- Looked After Children or previously Looked After Children who were immediately adopted or made the subject of a child arrangements order or a special guardianship order.
- Children for whom an exceptional medical or social need to attend this school is demonstrated.
- Children who live in our designated area, with a sibling on roll at the point of application.
- Other children who live in our designated area.
- Children who live outside our designated area, with a sibling on roll at the point of application.
- Children who live outside our designated area, who regularly attend (or whose parents are) regular attenders of a Christian Church.
- Children of members of staff employed at this school for more than two years when the application is made or recruited within the past two years to fill a vacancy for which there was a skills shortage.

If the school is asked to admit a child who is above Reception age, the same criteria for entry will apply. Applications for other year groups will be granted if there is a place available.
If the school is unable to admit the child because this will exceed the PAN, he/she will be placed on a waiting list prioritised as outlined above in points 1–7. A waiting list may be held for each year group.
Where parents are refused a place at All Saints CE Primary School they have the statutory right to appeal. Appeal Timetable (taken from DCC’s Guide to School Admissions Appeals)
Primary Admissions Round (Year R) – appeals at the normal round of admissions to Reception will be heard within 40 days of the deadline for lodging appeals which is 20 days post the national allocation day. On-time appeals (submitted within 20 days of the national allocation day) will be heard in June and July.
Late Applications– the panel will tray to include late appeals with the appeals that have been lodged on time. If this is not possible, the aim is to hear them within 30 school days of receiving your appeal.
In-year Admissions– will be heard within 30 school days of your appeal being received.
Additional Evidence– if you have further evidence to submit after you have lodged your appeal, this should be no later than five days before the date of the appeal. After this date and including the date of the appeal, no new evidence can be accepted unless you can show that you were unable to submit it earlier.
Decision– normally a letter will be sent with the Panel’s decision and the reasons for it within five school days of the appeal. Alternatively, you can call the Panel to find out their decision after 9.30am the next working day after the appeal.
